  • The short answer is yes, the Tudor Black Bay GMT is a good watch.

Why you ask? Here’s how I see it:

    Style

The 41mm steel case, blue and red bezel, black dial with snowflake hands and lume plots, and riveted steel bracelet come together for an appealing sports watch reminiscent of its more expensive counterpart, the Rolex GMT Pepsi watch.

    Functionality

As its name suggest, the Tudor Black Bay GMT offers GMT functionality, which essentially means you can track several time zones in one watch. The center hands indicate the local time, the red GMT-hand indicates a second-time zone by pointing to one of the 24-hour numerals on the bezel, and rotating the bezel in either direction can tell you the time in a third-time zone. Plus, the Tudor Black Bay GMT includes a jumping local hour hand—thus, when you travel to another city, you can easily move the hour hand back or forth accordingly without disrupting the other hands on the dial. Also, the watch is water-resistant to 200 meters, so the Tudor Black Bay GMT is as comfortable down in the water as it is up in the air traveling.

    In-House Movement

To offer the above functions, Tudor equipped the Black Bay GMT with the MT5652 in-house automatic movement. An in-house movement is almost always a plus in the luxury watch community. The MT5652 offers 70 hours of power reserve and is a certified chronometer.

    Price

It’s no secret that Tudor is a less expensive alternative to Rolex and the Black Bay GMT retails for $3,900 with the steel bracelet or $3,575 with a fabric and/or leather strap.
